COLOURS AND COLOUR CHARTS

                                                            COLOURS AND CHARTS
Colours and the big debate.Where do we start, one would ask.The subject of colour is one that has been going on since caveman days. And over the years i am sure has lead to many a domestic dispute. In the world of model making what one persons sees in a shade of blue on a F-15 for example will be different to someone elses point of view.Following some conversation over this last weekend i have compiled a list of the sites that i use for general help.

Below are some of the links for you to use.

http://www.jpsmodell.de/dc/luft_e.htm

http://scalemodeldb.com/paintcharts/vallejo

http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_humbrol.htm

Please note these are only a guide.Research i am sure you would agree is key in any subject.Remember a good book is sometimes better than the internet.

I hope this helps

IPMS Coventry Easter workshops Days Two and Three

                                                      Days Two and Three Workshops
Day Two of the workshops started very much like day one arriving around 10am Easter Sunday to start.Members that attended brought along some different models in some cases to start or to carry on with certain modules of their various kits.

Again the weather was glorious and so attracted the public to the museum and in turn to see our diplay. All in all we had some good comments to our themed display and workings.

Day Three Bank Holiday Monday was very good.Being a bank holiday Monday, this did indeed attract alot of the local public to the museum and as before to our display.

In my own case i actually got some model making done on my T34/76 and i would say the model is 80% complete.

Later on in the day Mike our Chairman very kindly put on a BBQ for members of the club and members of the museum staff. My thanks goes to Mike for his hard work in arranging this.Ones belly is rather full even Twenty Four hours later.

I took the liberty of taking some more images of the days and they are here for you to see below, again with narratives as appropriate.

Each year at Easter time some of us get together at The Midland Air Museum and have a weekends kit bashing. This is no exception and today Good Friday is day one of the weekends event.Located in the main hanger spread over two sets of tables Six of us arrived between 10am -11am and set about  making some kits. The purpose of which is to display to the general public, what we do and how we do it.The day went very well, with the general public asking questions and passing some very nice comments.

What i will do is show you the images taken and put a narrative by each image. On with the show.

Cosford Model Show 10 April 2011

                                                         Cosford Model Show Mini Report.

First things first as they say. This report will only be a mini report sadly. This is due to me recently catching E Coli, from where i do not know. But not to be wished on anyone.Ok thats the sympathy request dealt with lol.

What can one say about the Cosford show that has not beeen repeated many times over. One of the highlights of the year in  many peoples opinion. Not only does Cosford house some of the best examples of aircraft in the world. But it is located and serviced by motorways within the Midlands.

For myself this year i arrived at around 08.30 having been given a club pass via 580 Modellers with which i display as well. The show is set up over the main hangers and also the new super hanger. This year we were located in the experimental hanger by the Fairy Delta.I do have to say the table space really was not enough but i have had this explained to me and the reasons do make sense.Suffice to say it comes down to money.

The show itself in regards to traders was very good, most being located in Hanger 1 with names such as Chris Summers of Kits-Kits,with whom i purchased the holy grail of aircraft kits namely the Tamiya 1/32 Eagle for the princely sum of £65.What a bargain.

Attached are some images for you to see.Not many this time sadly as i was not feeling pucker as Jamie Oliver would say.

In conclusion a great show down to Gary and his hard working team.Thankyou Gary.

JLS&Co Model Shop.

                                                                   JLS Models
Recently through searching E Bay i have come across a new outlet here in the the West Midlands called JLS Models.Further research established that the company has a shop located in Wednesbury. This was a delight to my ears,as we all like to  find a new shop. And new bargains to be had.

On Wednesday of this week following a phone call to the owner, myself and a fellow modeller Terry Walton made the trip over  to Wednesbury. Here is my report.

Located in Wednesbury down a small side road is JLS&Co.The shop is located within a building that also houses a rifle range downstairs.JLS is located on the first floor in what can only be described as a pristine layout. On one side you have Air Rifles.Mostly made in Birmingham. And through an archway the sanctum that is the model shop.Lastly attached is a very nice office that is used for the dispatch of kits.

Mien Host is Stuart who is assisted by his lovely wife.Stuart is a real gentleman and a model maker to boot.If some of you older ones remember ED'S Saturday club. Then i would say the format follows the same as ED's.Stuart is very passionate about the hobby and is working very hard to build up a customer base with sheer hard work.

At present Stuart has a good range of models both in Aviation and Armour and some very nice cars.He
covers such manufacturers as Tamiya,Hasegawa,Airfix,Italeri,Academy and some Trumpeter. What did impress me was he also stocks some of the harder to get Tamiya Tools. As we all know these are hard to come by.Stuart also stocks a good range of paints from Tamiya at a very good price indeed.

SALE
Stuart has informed me of a bargain for all you Armour guys.He is doing the Tamiya Panzerjager Jagdpanther in 1/35th at discount price. These go for £50 plus.Stuart is offering a great discount on these. Please speak to Stuart ref this as to the discounted price.  Tel 0121-556-1322

Stuarts main sales i would say are via E Bay as stated earlier. So please check out JLS Models on E Bay.

I myself purchased the re-released Tamiya T34/76 1943 at £19.99 and Tamiya thinners.

In conclusion for me this is a great breath of air to have a new outlet, fairly nearby to me that sells there items at a good rate together with good banter.I very much commend them to the house. Here Here.
