Bolton IPMS Show 2011.Show Report.

The Bolton IPMS model show, held on the 16th of January is the first of this years shows to tempt the taste buds of the modeller to get out and wake up from his or her hibernation during the terrible weather we have had.

So at O.M.G(Oh my God hour) myself and the goodly Mrs Maher left a dark gloomy Birmingham and made our way north to Bolton arriving at the show at 08.50.The journey took at total of 1.50hr which was good, with most of the driving being motorway using the M6,62,60,61.

The venue for this years show was St Josephs School on Chorley New Road, Horwich. The parking on arrival was excellent, with one of the members directing you in to what was for us a prime spot infront of the main door. The main area of display was the central hall, with certain traders being allocated space in side rooms. This was different from the norm, but was the best usage of space for the show.

I had travelled up to display with the 580 modelllers and other members of Coventry IPMS had travelled up to display with other groups. Those being Martin,Trevor,Ivor and Ray.On reflection maybe we would like to display as a club in 2012 ?

Traders wise included Mr Models who had a good number of the new Vixens from Airfix for sale.Others were MDC,Little Cars,Paul Davies,Chris Summers of Kits Kits.New to me was Neil Robinson who i did not know is now working with Model Alliance.I would urge you to look at some their new lines. They are very good indeed.

Lastly and most importantly the models.I have a small selection of images for you to see.I hope you like them.

The big Stalwart with great engine detail.

The Pig on a very emotive diorama.

The word is Wow.These Starwars models were huge and very well made.

The attention to detail was awesome here

General views of the main area of display

A great F15E  of the 494th from Lakenheath.

A lovely F5E from the same modeller.

F-18 Hornet great finish

A model i had never seen before. A Mew

The 580 stand.

This Big Boy  was mind blowing by Les of 580 Modellers.

My own HUMVEE

A very colourfull F-8 Crusader in 1/32 scale.

The new Mig23 in 1/32 scale

The new Airfix Vixen in 1/48th.A great finish.

The level of detail was very captivating in Robs Corsair.Rob displays with 580 and is an exceptional model maker.

Miss Demeanour in 1/32 on the theme stand. What ever your views on what a Hunter should look like, this is awesome.

I love Phantoms and this one certainly took my eye.

The mighty Harrier of IV Sqn sadly missed.

A very nice finish on the Harrier GR3.

2011 A new year.

Again Happy New Year to all.

The first meeting of the year took place on Friday the Seventh of January at the Air Museum. The meeting was very well attended, with nearly a full house of members. Many were beavering away with what i guess were presents from family etc.

The meeting also included a small competition of Egg planes of various types. This year was won by Mike Haines with a lovely Mirage.Pictures will follow soon

During the meeting the display theme for this year was discussed, with some members throwing in ideas. The final theme will be discussed at the next meeting on theTwenty First of January(subject to change).

Lastly and most importantly the AGM MEETING will take place on Friday the 4th of February 2011.All committee post are up for re-election.

That concludes this post for now folks.Thankyou.

Model Show Case

Just before the festive season commenced our normal club night was turned over to diplaying some of the members models.Sadly i was not able to make the said meeting,so the photography was provided by Carl Lewis one of our members.

Below you will see we have a wide and varied array of subjects, which on occasion can become quite bizzare. But this is the way we like it.And it has stood us in good stead, having won best club on more than one occasion.

So on with the show and i hope you enjoy our members models.

MORE IMAGES WILL FOLLOW DURING THE WEEK TO TEMPT YOUR TASTE BUDS.
