Club Night 18 February 2011
On the 18th of February.The Coventry and Warks IPMS club held its bi-monthly meeting at the Air Museum Coventry.The main theme of the meeting was just to get together and build and discuss your latest projects.
I was there in my official capacity as "Blog Meister" and spoke to some of the members and took some images of their latest projects.Amongst them was Steve Roberts who is currently working on a 1/144 VC-10 Test Bed that carried a RR, RB-211 on the port engine pylon.The kit itself is Airfix and the Conways are from Braz in resin.Pete Rollins is currently working on a GATO class Submarine.This is huge to say the least and will need a big area to display it.Going to the other extreme and working in micro mode is Will Williams who is producing some amazing armour in 1/144 scale.Also talking of armour was Paul Redfern who at present seems to be making the whole of the modern Chinese Army Armour.His latest creation is based loosely on the BTR80 series.Lastly and of great interest to me was Mark Sandford.He is currently working on a 1/32 Hawk from Revell.Mark tells me that he will be doing a 4FTS Red and White version.I shall look forward to seeing this.

Dominie XS709 retirement to R.A.F Cosford Museum
A week ago today we witnessed another of the Government cuts with the first of the Dominies to go to a museum after their disbandment.The aircraft chosen was XS709 M the oldest aircraft of the fleet.
After receiving a phone call a couple of days prior,i made my way to RAF Cosford on a cold Friday morning to await the arrival.As planned XS709 arrived almost on time at 11.32.She gave all of us standing on the railway platform by the threshold a fly by.And then a missed appraoch.And finally a very nice landing.
It was sad to see one of the oldest remaining aircraft retire.But at least she has not fallen foul of the axeman.
I am told that the remainder will be up for tender.And that one other should be on her way to Shawbury this very week,possibly by road.
I intend to build XS709 very soon and will provide you with an online report.Just a matter of finding the model in my never ending loft.

MILTON KEYNES 2011
MILTON KEYNES 2011
Attending the first show of the year as a displaying club.Members of Coventry and Warks made the journey to Milton Keynes on the Sixth of February 2011.I myself travelled down from Birmingham arriving at Eight Thirty on the dot and made my way in.The first thing that struck me was why is everyone called "Del,Tel,Mal,Gal,Shaz or Trace.Answers on a postcard please.This year we were located on the first floor near the cafe,which was good as i was parched and need coffee and a bacon roll.
The show is vast and spread over a large area.And in the main area covered three floors including ground floor.The ground floor in the main area hosted the traders in the main and was very well attended.Traders included Hannants(Colindale),Mr Models,Kit Krazy,Little Cars,Phil Mitchell amongst them.On the first floor where our club was located,were many other clubs and these included Birmingham,The U.S.A.F Sig,The Phantom Sig,Mercia amongst them.Above us was another level also hosting clubs.Lastly to tempt your taste buds even more,another large hall hosted clubs.So you can see why i say vast.
This years buying was curbed a little by myself with me buying a 1/32 decal sheet for my Hawk.Some sanding sticks and a £2 OV-10 in 1/72.I think this must be a record for me, total spend £15 including coffee.I did however notice the wallets of our members very much opened as shopping bags came to the display and were placed under the table.Bargain of the day had to go to Dave Carter.The pictures of which are below with a full explanation.
In conclusion the show was very pleasant to attend this year and i felt was alot more organised.Well done Milton Keynes and thankyou.
