Sunday August the 21st saw me on the road again.This time it was to the IPMS Avon Model Show held at the Yate Leisure Centre.This was to be my second visit to this great show and again i was not to be disappointed.

To my journey down.This was a very early start leaving Birmingham and going via Warwick to pick up one of our members.And then it was cross country and down the M5.Arriving at 09.15 it was straight in and to my display table.Again this year i myself was displaying at 580 Modellers,as Coventry had declined to display as a club.However members had turned up to display with other groups,including the What If SIG.

Having set up i had my first look around.The venue was very busy with alot of clubs displaying including Birmingham,Gloucester and Swindon amongst them.Trader wise saw Chris from Kits-Kits,MDC,Mainly Military,Freightdog and Gary Madgewick of Airframe.During my walk around i spoke to Gary Madgewick at length and asked him why the company had changed the company name in relation to its decal range.Gary informed me that it was purely a trade name change in relation to sales in the USA.Namely that our American cousins relate more to one product name,rather than three from the same company.So there you go for anyone that may be a tad confused.Ok back on track,Gary showed me the latest sheet to be released and i have images below for you to see.Released on the day.This extensive sheet covers the Harrier retirement 1969-2010.The sheet is very well printed,with great register and colours.Yours for £19.I will certainly be having one of these.Being worked on subject to change in the near future will be another sheet under the UK Air Arm name, from the same company.This will be a sheet which will include the Nimrod R1 retirement scheme and another Harrier from Coningsby.Lastly from Airframe is to be a combination sheet and 1/72 model of the last Tornado F3's.They are just waiting for the kits and they will be out for your purchase.Again some images are below.Next was Freightdog.They now have the very nice Alleycat Bailliol out.I only had a quick glance and took some quick snaps but this looks like a very nice model indeed in resin.And with a clear resin canopy.As was with the Tucano that was recently released.Colin of Freightdog also showed me some of the recently released decal sheets.I took the plunge here and purchased the "Silver Merlins" sheet in 1/32.This sheet is a limited run of 100 sheets.And Colin informed that at least a third had already been sold.A great bargain at only £9.This sheet is ideal for the new Tamiya Mustang in 1/32.

Back to the clubs and models.The competition was very well supported with some wonderfull entries.Amongst the winners was my fellow 580 Modeller Rob Cookson who gained a first in Class 3.Well done Rob.
