This last weekend on the Sunday, saw Coventry IPMS hosting a display at the Griffin public house just outside Rubby town centre. The event was organised by Steve Roberts one of our members for Help the Heroes.
As an ex serviceman i was proud to attend on the day and travelled down from Birmingham on a lovely sunny morning. As i have said the event was held within the Griffin Pub,in what i think is a function room normally.Arriving just before Nine a.m,i set up along with other clubs that had been invited. These included UMS from Birmingham.What-If SIG.TheVietnam SIG.Leicester Modellers.
After set up Mein Host served up a cracking breakfast with all the works for a great price of £4.50.I was then set up for the day.
At around Ten a.m some 1/1 Armour arrived in the guises of a Scimitar and Scaracen from the guys at Alvis and this was closely followed by our member Petes "Big Dodge".Their arrival sparked alot of the locals coming to see what all this was about followed by many children climbing to get a seat.
Later in the afternoon we were also treated to our chairman Steve and member Pete reinacting the battle of Kursk in the pub car park.I must admit i did have a go and now i want a Tiger tank for Xmas.
Not missing the models lastly there were some very nice examples of peoples work. This included a near completed ballerina on the UMS stand, completely done from scratch. Also a great "Huey" diorama on the Vietnam SIG stand.
I would like like to thank Steve Roberts for his hard work on behalf of us all and the clubs for attending.
